The American Kestrel is North America’s smallest falcon. Because of it's small size and habit of perching on utility lines, it is often mistaken for Mourning Doves. It nest in cavities made by other birds or in nestboxes built by humans. It catches it's prey with it's feet and then administers a killing bite to the back of it's head. It eats mostly large insects and some small mammals, birds, reptiles. Grasshoppers is it's favorite!
